Finally - we have our 4th cam!
« on: January 12, 2013, 08:26:22 AM »
Took over a year to get around to setting up another cam.
But, it is FINALLY up (for what that's worth) ...

The "Critter Cam" went live a couple days ago ...
Will be adding another feeder in the next day or two ...

Is that the cam moving or the picture itself? I can see that it's windy but the picture keeps moving.

You might have caught me when I was moving the camera, trying to adjust the view angle ... I was messing with it for about 10 or 15 minutes yesterday afternoon...

Thanks Ryan and Tony!

Right now, I am using a Logitech Pro 9000 ...

I may be changing it out for a c510 ... The 9000 series seems to have some low light issues and focus problem in the leftmost portion of the field of view.

Hey, I have a red feeder just like that!

I just purchased a c510 last night at WalMart to replace a lesser version of Logitech webcam for my Newcomerstown station. I should have it online this afternoon sometime.

Thanks for sharing!

I am using the c510 as my traffic cams ... They do a pretty good job. It's cool too that they are fixed focus cameras. No need to mess with anything ...

I added a shade over the lens - on the outside of the glass and put roughly 6 inches of black plastic covering around the area of the aperture.  It helped a bit with the contrast ...

That IS the question!! We aren't certain ...

There are a few similar to that one which show up throughout the day ... Some of them have several colors on them. I initially thought it was a domestic finch that had gotten out ... But, then we realized that there are several different ones coming around that look like grosbeaks AND finch's ...

Na that's not a Grosbeak. I'm looking now. It's on the tip of my tongue lol

EDIT:
I asked Liz from http://www.overlookcircle.org/ who's a new member here. She's pretty smart about birds.

It's a Painted Bunting.

I'm jealous of your painted bunting! We don't get them this far north.
