It's time to start the search for the WXForum.net Featured Weather Website for Summer 2007, so please post your nominations (with a short description about your nominee) in this thread.

Don't forget that it is perfectly OK to nominate someone who has been nominated in the past but was not selected! We've had some very deserving nominees, and close runoffs!

Some criteria to consider when making nominations:


The visual attractiveness of the site
Ease of navigation
Quality and quantity of useful or interesting information
Educational value
Distinctiveness


While not a hard and fast rule, sites that only use the unmodified default web page template that comes with the software, while absolutely useful and functional, may not cross into that next level to warrant featuring in this manner. Please try to address these areas while nominating a site.

We'll run the nominations through Monday 08-Oct-2007, then start a new thread for polling on Tuesday, 09-Oct-2007. The polling will run through Monday, 16-Oct-2007.

In July 2007, Neon Desert.com was completely redesigned! The site is very easy to navigate, has live weather conditions and a forecast nicely displayed on the homepage. The site also has a condensed information bar on the left side of every page informing visitors (at a glance) of the current weather conditions, latest Doppler radar image, webcam, lightning information etc.. Within the site you can also find an active weather blog and photo gallery!  

All in all, an excellent site in my book!

I would like to nominate WA3UMC Weather, Joppa, Maryland

His home page has the basic current weather information right on the front.  Very easy to navigate from page to page.  He also has satellite images posted that are retrieved with his own radio receiving equipment.  Along with the images he has detailed information how it all works.  I also like the graphics for the current weather and background he uses.  Very unique as far as weather web sites go in my opinion.

Matthew has done a wonderful job taking the my basic template (which is live with Ajax thanks to Ken at Saratoga Weather), and making it his own.

Beyond the basic template (which is quite difficult to complete outside the US and our NOAA weather data), he has added things which people in his area would be interested in - fire data, road reports, marine data... all integrated into his site.

Very pleasingly done.

(Oh, and Matthew, if you read this, I borrowed the changing tag line idea from your site.    )

Yes, very cool. I sure would like to know how he got his 'Active weather alert' to automatically display with a link. Didn't mean to get off track but thought that would be a cool addition. If anybody knows could they post in the script forum?
