Weather Link
« on: April 14, 2012, 05:08:45 PM »
Hello,

I have a VP2 downloading to a dedicated computer running Cumulus 24/7. Once a week I open Weather Link and download
from the data logger to update Weather Link. I like the graphs and the way the history can be displayed on Weather Link, so
I was wondering if on my lap top, which is a separate computer, I can download the historical data from my dedicated computer on my home wireless network and view it on my lap top. Which files in Weather Link would need to be set for sharing across the network to accomplish this if it is possable?

Thanks for the help,
Dennis

You would need another copy of WeatherLink running on your laptop.  I suppose copying your station data files (I called mine "station 1") over to your laptop C:\WeatherLink directory might do the trick.

I do it a different way though.  I run Virtual VP on the main weather computer and then connect into it with my laptop over my home network to update WeatherLink on my laptop.

Thanks for the reply. I will try the first suggestion and if  can't get it to work
I will look at the virtual vp solution.

Thanks,
Dennis

If your laptop can see the .WLK files on the main  box, WL can read them.

I am also a big fan of Virtual VP, mainly for viewing live station data on different machines on my LAN and being able to run multiple weather software programs, all at the same time!

I find it's very stable.

There seems to be an issue acquiring VVP at present, discussed in a thread on the Weather Display forum:

Sorry, but I don't usually have time to help with individual issues by email unless you are a Prodata customer. Please post your issue in the relevant forum section here & I will comment there if I have anything useful to add.

I'm very sorry to hear that Steve had to take time away to deal with this issue.

I sincerely hope everything works out for him.
