Verification pop-up.
« on: June 04, 2015, 08:00:08 PM »
I am seeing a request for verification pop up on my screen now when I click on a thread to open. This just started happening today. I click on "Cancel" and it goes away and everything works as normal. I logged out and closed Wxforum then logged back in and this continues. Is this something new to the forum or did I pick up something I shouldn't have?
Thanks.

edit: I see it's member Chief David's website (head scratcher). weird.

I send him a PM about it.  Glad to see it wasn't just me having the problem.   #-o

Sorry all.

This is where I have to say "Its not you, its me"  I had no idea it was happening here.

There are server issues at school and no one is doing anything about it.

If you go to the website main page, it will give that Authentication message incessantly.
then the page will crash.   Happens about every 10 minutes.

I thought it was an issue with WD and WDL, but when I removed that from the server and the webpage,  it still happens.

Then I saw my signature would disappear from here, and cannot access data on Midwestweather.net.
So I knew it was a server issue.

I took off my banner from the signature-so all should be good here.

I may have to get pushy at school.  Yesterday was the last day, so there is no reason why they cannot restart the server that has the website.

go to weather.rms.rdale.org    and weather.rms.rdale.org/weather2.php and see what I mean

Still having issues.  So it is the weekend and still mucked up.

They reset the iiS server and it did not help.

I look at it two ways

1.  Server permission issues-their problem

2. Corrupted file causing the issue.

Thoughts?

Another possibility is that someone changed the directory structure on the server.

That second URL (the one ending in weather2.php) gives simply "The directory name is invalid."

This is what I was told

"we're looking at file access permissions to see if there was anything broken."

I wouldn't think something like that would change itself, but strange things happen for no reason

I also am a member of the "World Weather Websites".  Today, on my website when I went to check my ranking I got the same pop-up we were seeing here. I guess wherever your website banner is located this may be happening. ;)

Yep.  Now I'm occasionally getting the authentication dialogs again.  Weird.

On the plus side, I'm seeing a lot more information than I could a few days ago.  I'm actually seeing the pages as you intended.  The other day all I could get were error messages.

It looks like it is working now--

But it will not bring up the page past a certain point

It will not bring up the forecast. When I remove it, the page loads fine.

Please look to see if this is an issue.  It was not before.

advforecast is up to date.

<center>Robbinsdale Area Schools Weather Forecast</center>

<?php
$doPrintNWS = false;
require("advforecast2.php"); ?>
<table>
<tr align="center" valign="top" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasticons[0]</td><td>$forecasticons[1]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasticons[2]</td><td>$forecasticons[3]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasticons[4]</td><td>$forecasticons[5]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasticons[6]</td><td>$forecasticons[7]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasticons[8]</td><td>$forecasticons[9]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
</tr>
<tr align="center" valign="top"  bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
<?php print "<td>$forecasttemp[0]</td><td>$forecasttemp[1]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasttemp[2]</td><td>$forecasttemp[3]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasttemp[4]</td><td>$forecasttemp[5]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasttemp[6]</td><td>$forecasttemp[7]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
<?php print "<td>$forecasttemp[8]</td><td>$forecasttemp[9]</td>\n"; ?>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

</tr>
</table>
</p>

I moved it to the bottom of the page so you could see  the page source.

Interestingly enough, this page     http://weather.rms.rdale.org/weather2.php
has the time at the top through php.   But it is an hour behind.

Could there be more than one web server involved?  Possibly a load-balancing or redundancy setup?

I would have to ask.  The time thing is easy to solve.

But the forecast thing is a head scratcher.  Becuase every other thing that comes from the advforecast works.  Including the forecast on the top of the page.

I am assuming everyone else sees the same thing. \

http://weather.rms.rdale.org/test.php

maybe then I can use the cool banners instead of the WD ones.

I was moved to a different web server.  That was all the details I got.

Ken, you could move this if needed

So, I'm a bit confused.. the http://weather.rms.rdale.org/advforecast2.php shows the page and it's working correctly.

Is there still a problem???

advforecast2  page is fine.

but the code I posted will not show on my web page (since the web server switch)

Not  a big deal, but I found it weird.

here is the php info page  http://weather.rms.rdale.org/test.php   or http://weather.rms.rdale.org/PHP_Verify.php

On your main page, change the bottom code from
Code: [Select]
<?php
$doPrintNWS
false;
require(
"advforecast2.php"); ?>

<table>
to
Code: [Select]
<?php
$doPrintNWS
false;
require_once(
"advforecast2.php"); ?>

<table>

Since you already have two icons printed from advforecast2.php at the top of the page, you don't need to include the script again at the bottom of the page -- it's already run and set up the variables at the top of the page.  the _once() on the require (or include) just means 'do it if it is not already done'.

Using require() or include() for the same script name on the page is likely the cause of the error--PHP finds a function name (like FetchUrlWithoutHanging) already defined (due to the first include) and fatal errors when it tries to redeclare it in the second include/require.

Best regards,
Ken
