The NWS is soliciting comments about their experimental 'Winter Storm Severity Index' (http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/notification/pns17-03winter_severity.htm).

I am glad that the Gaylord MI office is participating. I'll keep an eye on this and see how it goes.
