ISO affordable station for Philippine location
« on: April 11, 2014, 05:48:51 PM »
I wish to install a weather station in an open area near the ocean on the Philippine island of Bohol. I will not be there to monitor it after I set it up and don't know yet who I can get to keep an eye on it.  There is marginal internet coverage.  Would a IP WiFi make sense?  Thanks for all suggestions!  This will be my first station, so please don't use acronyms.

You really do not provide enough information.

An IP station will require a wireless router with a connection to the Internet. No computer should be needed.

If you go with a USB or serial station you will need a computer 24/7 and a connection to the Internet.
And, probably some one half way knowledgeable to restart the computer should there be a power failure or some other reason for a reboot.

IP is probably the easiest way if there is no one to monitor /control the station.

And, the real question is how much money are you willing to spend?
