VWS Errors in recording data
« on: August 13, 2014, 12:14:55 PM »
Just upgraded to V15, but noticed errors in my data going back some time (years), if i look at c:\vws\data\archive\yearly i notice there is nothing in 2010 - 2013 but 2009 and 2014 is ok, if i then look into c:\vws\data i notice that a bit of 2010 is there as a file (all older ones are there and ok), but there is NO file for 2011, 2012, 2013 and the summary at the bottom shows lots of bin errors, i've attached the current summary file

Can anyone suggest what there errors are and if possible how to fix them please

Note: i have an OS WMR968 WS with VWS 15.0, (15.0 upgrade seems to have fixed an error as in archive i now have a 2014 file with more than just the header columns in it!)

The summary.txt you attached indicates no errors.  Error: 0 means the data was written correctly.  Not sure where the Yearly Archive files went.

Jay,
If you look at the top of the summary file:

165 Monthly Min: -17.777779,12/8/14
165 Yearly Min: -17.777779,12/8/14
166 Monthly Min: -17.777779,12/8/14
166 Yearly Min: -17.777779,12/8/14
this -17.77777 etc seems to recur through years on the data files, i changed the database to a new one yesterday and looking back through the previous one it's there all the time in the CF & CG columns in the comma sep excel files stored in c:\vws\data but not in the new file i created yesterday, however i have noticed that the one i renamed yesterday is 39mb but only seems to contain data for a few months, it's lost or over written data from Later 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 (before yesterday), had corrected the database almost every time i had loaded the prog since i can remember

Hope this is some help, let me know if you need more info / files etc

Regards

Trevmm,

Just curious.  Is the date on the bad record December 8 2014, or August 12, 2014.  If the former, then that date hasn't occured and could be causing the error.  I'd be interested in seeing some of the old data with that error but I don't want 39mb of spreadsheet.  Can you cut out some of the bad data and post it here?

Jay,
no it's not the Dec one (we work the otherway around in the UK, ie; Day, Month, year in dates), this is set up on the computer this way

I'd copied some of the data here for you to look at, problem is it either loses it's format along with calcs or it's to big to send, can only get it down to 4.97mb zipped, if i try and save it, it loses it's format and does not mean a lot! Any thoughts?

Trevmm,

Would a screen shot of some of the data work?  Can you copy and paste some of the data into another .csv file?  What are you using to view the file?  You might try CSVed, http://csved.sjfrancke.nl/index.html  It seems to be a good way to view the data without loosing formatting.
