WL as a Service?
« on: October 06, 2010, 08:11:49 PM »
I have a WinXP Pro weather/print server.  Nothing else is run on this server and once we got the CWOP upload lockups (http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=8804.0) taken care of - thank you Davis support - it runs forever with out fault.  The only problem I have is in a power failure.   I do have the BIOS set to restart on power failure but how do I get it  start WL again.  It is in my start-up folder but that only starts it if I manually log in.  How do I get WL set up a service which would take care of my problem.  I am not set that it has to be recognized as a service...

Actually I would rather save up my money for a 6372 for Pool Temp and a 7747 Fan Aspirator and a 6332 Anemometer Transmiter and...

Not that a UPS would'nt be very cool!

Oh well a cheep reboot and restart of WL will do me just fine

Here is another option to getting WL to auto start-up after a power outage.  I had forgotten about one of Microsoft's little gems, a set of WinXP tweakers called of all things PowerToys TweakXP . With this little program you can set XP to auto load the password and start the log-in of choice.  This way you can still have a password assigned to the screen saver.

I love having my cake and eating too.......
