Battery / solar / supercap issue
« on: February 10, 2018, 09:01:15 PM »
it's a vp2 wireless
Had a bit of a look around, really didn't see any info
Heres The issue
every 6 months unit goes flat kind off
battery goes flat, have replaced the supercap couple of times as per members advice
the unit only sends data when the suns up ie 6 am to 6 pm
I think the super cap doesn't get any charge
anyone else had this issue
also, console always says battery low on the iss even with new cap and battery
or is the battery only to last 6months
cheers

Is that the way it operates, when the battery is new?  Or just how it works after 6 months?

In any case, if you have correctly replaced the supercap, then the problem is somewhere in the connecting circuitry.  Unless you are technically skilled, you will need a new ISS circuit board.

Please remember that it's not recommended by Davis to use rechargeables in the ISS - the voltage characteristics are sufficiently different from the CR123.

Sorry, but I don't usually have time to help with individual issues by email unless you are a Prodata customer. Please post your issue in the relevant forum section here & I will comment there if I have anything useful to add.

Definitely an issue with your ISS board, replace it and you’ll be back to normal.
I’d also check the voltage from your solar panel on the front lid.

I think I suggested that earlier (unless you want to just keep replacing batteries every few weeks).
