WRM100
« on: June 12, 2010, 06:59:42 AM »
Hi Guys
Im very new to this so please go easy. I purchased a wrm100 today and im having some problems. The temperature sensor and wind sensor are working fine. The rainguage however is useless. I can only get it to register info on the console when it is next to the console. As soon as i move it 4 metres away and move the spoon, it never changes the read out. I have reset both and changed the battery. Any ideas

Did you buy it at a store that will take it back and refund your money?  If so I would send it back.  Especially if you have plans to get your weather data on your pc, and on the net.

I've been running the "standard" rain gauge for about 4 years now and it's one of the better instruments, so I'd agree with Andrew, it's normally very solid.

And today, after 114 bone dry days, I recorded my first for the rainy season, so we're good to go for another season it seems.

The rain gauge was the most accurate part of my old WRM100. Something didn't work when I first got mine and I had to send the whole thing back for a new one.

I have played around with it today and it works fine with the cover off. As soon as the cover goes on it loses signal. Taking it back today hopefully

I agree with the previous posts, the OS rain sensor is the most reliable of any of their equipment. Take/send it back and get a replacement.

Guys got it replaces today. The new one connected up straight away. I was blown away. The other one took so much fiddling.
Well its all setup now. The wind and temp sensor are located on my roof. I know its not the best place but i have limited areas.
I have also mounted the rainguage about 1.5 metres off the ground. Its not the best spot also but all i can work with at the moment

Is it possible to place your temp sensor where your rain gauge is? Sounds better being 1.5 meters off the ground (unless it's asphalt) than on the roof. :-)

that areas above pavers. Is it a bad idea to have the temp with the wind sensor.
