Title: Interference from Boltek
Post by: safuser on March 11, 2019, 11:15:11 AM
Does anyone know if a Boltek LD-350 antenna in proximity to a Blitzortung antennas will cause any interference with each other.

On the surface of it, I would say that both systems are receive only. The Blitzortung definitely consists of either ferrite rod antennas or wire loops feeding into amplifiers. Downstream they are fed into ADCs for digitization.

The Boltek is literally a "black box" but as far as I know, it has small ferrite rod antennas and amplifiers in the antenna unit.

I suppose that it might be possible for some conducted emissions to come from the CPU and re-radiate from the antennas.

I highly doubt that there would be interference per se. De-tuning or interfering with the antenna pattern might be possible with a similar resonant circuit in close proximity.

Is there something that leads you to believe that this is happening, or is it more of a hypothetical question?

Hypothetical.  Planning ahead if my number ever comes up. :) Already have a Boltek with Microsferics TOA Box.
