Sporadic Tx Drop Outs From Tower Sensor
« on: December 01, 2015, 12:19:08 PM »
I have a 5-1 and two tower sensors.  The one in the garage - about 30 feet thru one garage wall and an open window almost always reports transmission strength as one bar but sometime will drop for hours.  Any way to extend its antenna or improve the transmission?  The 5-1 and other tower work fine.  Or is this one just a dud?

You might crack it open and look at the coiled antenna.  I have seen a kinked coil that would make the coil shorter electrically then it is supposed to be.

Some people claim that straightening out the coil has improved their signal on 433MHz modules.  If you have no other good options it's worth a shot.
