A Good Snow Adage
« on: December 16, 2010, 09:12:26 AM »
Here in West Virginia, there are many adages, and mose are very accurate. Someon even made a 12-volume set of books about Appalachian folklore called "Foxfire"

Anyway, an adage I had never heard was "If the Sun comes out before the snow begins falling, it will be a good snow"

The Sun was definitely out yesterday, and we have been getting hit pretty hard with snow this morning.. Already with about 3 inches and still falling pretty hard...

You would be surprised how true most adages truly are 8-)

Therejust an cold front (clearing0 ahead of the  wrmfront  snow so it could have  an cold boundary to far thru. Warm air rises where cold air sinks and hence the snow or freezing rain falls from the moisture in warm air
