Extra Davis Anemometer, what should I do with it?
« on: October 24, 2009, 12:18:14 PM »
I have one off of my old Weather Wizard III that bit the dust. Does anyone know if I can add it as an extra sensor to my new Vantage Vue, when I get it set up?

Nope!  Only one anemometer per station.

Extra Davis Anemometer, what should I do with it?

This might be an off-the-wall idea, but maybe you could sell it?

Sell it? I was hoping someone would come up with something creative. Thought about making some kind of analog real time wind speed display with some kind of mechanical meter movement. But then, calibration would be a bear. :-|

POC to add a 1-Wire counter to that.  Hobbyboards.com sells a kit IIRC.

In reading the setup for the Vantage Vue it says it will take an anemometer transmitter. So I am assuming I could hook this up and it would disable the anemometer in the ISS? I could mount the ISS lower and have the anemometer up higher, I would assume.

Not sure about the Vue and Weatherlink but I have an anemometer hooked up to my ISS (VP2 plus) and another on an anemometer transmitter. I use the backup if the main one (on my 40 ft tower) ices up. Since both are always transmitting I just need to make a software switch in weatherlink since unfortunately you can only record data from one.
