« on: March 11, 2019, 05:08:54 PM »
Is there are work around to get Google Assistant for Ecowitt hardware with out purchasing from Ambient?

I am new ... absorbing a lot but thought I would just ask the question.

From my discussions with Ecowitt I understand that this is planned and in development.
The Amazon and Google skills will essentially leverage the data held in Ecowitt.net in the same way that Ambient skills leverages the data held within Ambient.net.

Currently I know that the IP Logger GW-1000 uploads weather data from the sensors to Ecowitt.net and that the HP2550/1 currently does not. However there is a firmware update due any day that will provide the ability for the HP2550/1 console to upload directly to ecowitt.net.

Hopefully it wont take too long for this to happen as the software backend that Ecowitt.net uses is essentially the same as Ambient. The only caveat is that Ecowitt is still developing its brand as a worldwide provider of Fine Offset equipment and resources are limited.

Since WU recently made available their new API for weather data contributors, I'm sure soon we will start to see 3rd party solutions that embrace this new API. I'm sure tie in to Google Assistant and Alexa will be things we see.

This would be a great feature. Does anybody have more information about Google assistant integration with ecowitt? Thanks

You can ask Lucy for an update.

But there is a way to get both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa integration now with an Ecowitt station. It involves using an Ecowitt GW1000 and connecting it to an Ambient WeatherBridge or to a Meteobridge with added Ambientweather.net license. This will allow you to upload to Ambientweather.net and then have the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa integration.

thanks very much, that is good to know! I also asked Lucy, and she said basically, that their engineers are really busy so it might take a "long time" for them to integrate Google Assistant, so basically, its in the works.

If I get impatient, I might go the GW1000 route but for now, i'll wait a bit.

thanks again
