wundermap
« on: January 18, 2010, 08:50:25 PM »
I find that when I search my zip code @WU my station will come up, with fresh updates within a few minutes but when I go to wundermap often my station isn't on it. I see what looks like a hole in the coverage (station wise) and some other stations come and go also. I know I'm sending data (via WLIP). I wonder if this is a server issue.

It could be an error in your lat/long spec on WU.  It would help if you could give us you WU Station Name and we could have a look.

Sure, my station name is KNJMATAW4 and my zip is 07747

I know my lat lon is right on by my boat gps, and cwop's map.

Thanks Saratopawx

Hmm, this morning my station is up and another area station is gone (aberdeen,nj) It seems that about 3 or 4 stations right in my area seem to show up sporadically on Wundermap.

It may have something to do with the zoom setting. Depending on the setting some stations show up and others do not. Example, zooming out will show less stations while zooming in will show more.
Also if you don't send data for a specific amount of time they will drop you.

Your lat/long/elevation (according to WU) are

<latitude>40.415459</latitude>
<longitude>-74.241966</longitude>
<elevation>69 ft</elevation>

Does that match your station's location?

it looks like your station is showing up on the Wundermap

right now.

The wundermap is always droping some stations.  It has been this way since it came out.  Most of the time, as already mentioned, its a zoom issue.  And this makes sense, especialy in urban areas.  However I learned a while back that a page refresh can also bring the station back up, or lose others.  If refresh does't do it a browser reboot might, so its not always the zoom.   ](*,)

I seem to be up now but, it's not really that big of a deal but i'm new and like to compare my data with other stations around me. My station is always up on weatherlink.

I've been telling my neighbors if they want to know the what is going on in there back yard to go to WU. I'd hate to look like a fool if nothing is there.

I put a ticket in and I got a pretty quick responce. When there is a lot of stations in a given area the stations that show on wundermap are hit or miss, a kind of lottery so to speak.

I sent in a ticket about the webcams and how it was more likely the problem being on their end, not mine. No response, and that was a week ago when I sent it in. Which means they're/'ve fixing/ed it.

But my current weather image on WU shows otherwise (still haven't fixed it).

They've probably got a long line of weather cam issues to work out.
