Wunderground Update Schedule
« on: July 28, 2009, 02:17:20 AM »
Is it possible to set your own update schedule to Wunderground, other than 'Rapid Fire', if so how?

In VWS as i see you use, also i  ;) I can't find any places to set any update schedule self, just the box for rapid fire. I haven't thought about it before, but lately my data in WU can be five min. or half an hour between, seems like it shall be five min. interval (that's just what i think and read out of my data) . So your question was interresting, anybody??

Yes it is possible.  Meteohubs allow you to set what is called a normal update schedule (non-rapid fire).  This would be at longer intervals than every 5 minutes. I've never tried experimenting with intervals longer than that as I wanted more frequent updates.

Your software would have to have an update interval feature option.

People always talk about the weather, but they never do anything about it.  Not me.  I'm gonna measure it.  https://www.tceweather.com

You can pick a schedule just like any other vws feature (ftp, html updates)

Got to the wunderground menu, right under username and password for WU, click "Update Schedule".  I am not at my weather pc, but assume you can pick interval (1,2,5,10,etc, not sure the lowest available) or timer (on the 10's 15's etc)

Page 84 of the 06/19/09 manual for a screen cap.  the section is called "rapid fire" but as long as you dont click the rapid fire check box you will use the standard timer.

Andrew,

Not quite sure whether it's me having a senior moment again, but my Wunderground thingy doesn't look exactly the same as the one shown in the VWS manual, similar except that I don't have the update schedule. I only have 'Upload Now' and 'Rapid Fire'.

Most odd!

Alan,
If you dont see it, its probably not there.  I see you are using ver 14, since this manual was fully updated in June after quite a while on 14, assumed it was the same.I am on 13, and that screen looks the same to me.

I checked the current wiki and it does not specifically mention a timer, just says if you want real time (every few seconds) enable rapid fire.

Perhaps another ver14 person could have a look.  Or you could pop support at Ambient a note.

I believe VWS v.14 uses the frequency of the database timer as the upload schedule to WU.

I can confirm it is the way killwilly say in the version he use (i use the same). It's rapid fire or upload now there, no schedule.

Interesting... kind of makes sense.  I guess if you never had it, you would not really miss.  Then again Alan is missing it....

Unless there was a good reason to remove, does not make sense to remove this kind of functionality,   coincidentally I have the option, and my db timer and wu are both set to 20.

I didn't notice it in last look

Thanks everyone. I have been experimenting with the database timer in VWS and yes it does alter the upload schedule to Wunderground. You learn something new everyday.

Hold your breath, I shall probably be along with another dumb question very soon.
