Outdoor temp/humidity failure

Outdoor temp/humidity failure

Is there a way to test either the:-

A)   Temp/humidity sensor

or

B)   Input to the board

to confirm where the problem lies ?

If it's the temp/humidity sensor itself, can you confirm the correct one.

Any other info you require ?

Thanks.

No easy way to test (unless you're an electronics engineer with suitable kit) but 98% of the time it will be the T/H sensor.

All the details you've given are the PCBA layout details and not indicative of the age of the board. But if the unit was bought new in 2009 from a reputable dealer (and not eg off eBay) then the sensor will be a standard digital T/H sensor with part number 7346.166 (or .174 is a more accurate replacement if you can find it).

ADD:  On the White, plastic ISS transmitter cover – A80730N729 Humidity calculation - ZD

It was bought from Ambient Weather.

I used to do electronics many moons ago.  I have some basic kit I occasionally use.

With an ISS that old it would likely make more sense to just get a new ISS which can be used with the old console.

Is an 8-year ISS old ?

Most items are fixable as they are plug and play.

Others can be fixed, with some investigation, parts purchasing and minor soldering.

The only real question now is get the old sensor, or the new one.

Any console made after January 1 2006 sensors are compatible.  The newest SHT31 will require putting the -.9 offset.  You can get the stock sht11 or better sht15 without any offset.
Scaled has all sensors provided console and transmitter are January 1 2006 and later.

I agree with Valentine on this just get a new temp sensor--assuming your rain gauge and fan are working. Easy to replace (assuming you can line up three long screws through the ISS--not hard, just requires a steady hand and patience) and this change should fix your issue. When replacing the temp sensor it would be a good time to clean your fan, rain gauge etc., including soaking the ISS shields (first remove fan and temp sensor) in a bleach solution for a few hours (over night would be good) followed by a little scrubbing and you will be surprised afterwards how "new" your 9 year old ISS looks!

Will do.

WheatonRon:  What ratio of bleach solution did you use ?

If I recall correctly, about 2-3 cups for a gallon of solution. It should smell bleachy!

I used "Spray and forget" on my WS-1200 the last time I cleaned it. I think 15:1. Removes the gunk real easy and you can work it with your hands, no gloves. I did cover the Solar, UV and radiation sensors. Hopefully it will stop stuff growing on it for some time as it is suppose to do.  :-)
