Weatherlink has stopped responding
« on: January 07, 2017, 10:01:39 AM »
This morning, Weatherlink 6.0.3 has stopped responding. When I restart it, the window appears but Weatherlink doesn't download any data. I am running Windows 10 and Weatherlink is using a serial link to my computer. VVP shows that Weatherlink is connected on the comport I allotted it to. I have had no problems up to now.

Maybe bypass VVP and go into the WL settings to see if you are indeed connected.

Have you gone into WL to see if the connection finds your station? If all else fails, try rebooting the computer.

I've performed a reboot but the problem remains.  I cannot access the WL settings because the program just sits there with a spinning cursor. I think that it is trying to access the archive and can't for some reason. As I said before, I've never had a problem with WL until now. No changes have been made to my computer that I know of.

At this point I'd completely remove WL from your computer and reinstall it.

Well, it still isn't working, the WL window won't even open up now, it just stays stuck in the tray. StartWatch sees it as starting only. I also just noticed that the WL files stopped updating just after 11:00 pm last night. I will continue to search for a solution, thanks for your help, guys  :)

Did you completely remove it? Not just 6.0.3, but 6.0.0 or whatever prior version you had? Then did you use your CD ROM to re-install or just get it off the web or both?

I did not delete anything, I just uninstalled Weatherlink 6.0.3 from Uninstall Programs, then downloaded the new file from the web.

So when you go to "remove programs" the only thing you see is 6.0.3, nothing else like 6.0.0 or 5.9.8 or whatever?

Am I correct that your weather site at http://www.beamsvillewx.ca/ is using the same computer and Davis hardware?  If so, that would rule out anything not associated with WeatherLink software.

Yes, my site is using the same computer and Davis hardware. Yes, 6.0.3 is the only WeatherLink version in Uninstall Programs. I also received this error:
"WeatherLink installation not complete. Possibly upgraded to the wrong folder." I know it's in the correct folder.

6.0.3 may not be a full build, and you'll need 6.0.0. Do you have the CD or not?

Yes, I believe the download from Davis is only an upgrade. So you need to install the original version, then upgrade to 6.0.3 from the download.

Exactly. However a while back I had Davis e-mail me a FULL build that was 6.0.3. I'd go that route if you don't have the CD.

Undoubtedly, you had to prove to Davis you bought the original release, but yes, that would be the way to go.

It figures, I know I have the cd but I can't find it, I'll keep looking. It's from years back, I hope that won't be a problem?

No. Like I said call Davis and have them e-mail you a full build. Whether it solves your problem......
