UK - Home CCTV Cameras Viewing Outside Your Boundary
« on: June 21, 2016, 01:16:15 PM »
Found out today that my CCTV and Weather Cameras which view outside of my boundary and capture images of people, which used to be exempt from the Information Commissioners Office registration, are now in scope - https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/cctv/.

It will cost £35 to register if you choose to do it.

Just thought I'd let you know.

That's only so the Coppers know which houses to raid to sieze video footage they deem 'necessary to aid in ongoing inquiries'.

Just take it down instead of paying.

That's not really an option for me, the person at ICO said it was an EU directive, I've already voted out of the EU by mail and this confirms I've made the right choice

It is going to be interesting... I mean the voting.... I am undecided, I dont know what I would do if it was here, but probably I would say NO (as in I do not want to stay in EU). As much as I supported EU and was so happy when we entered it in 2003... it has so many good things, but this thing they do with the immigrants just overrides all the benefits, Ive had enough

The whole debate here has been a joke, the politicians are so untrusted by the public that even if one side did have a convincing argument, they would not be belived.

The migrant issue is a big one, the National Health Service, Schools, Public Services are simply crumbling under the pressure, the government are looking at any way they can to tax you to the hilt.

I've not had a pay rise for over 4 years and in fact they have increased National Insurance contributions, so I've taken a cut in real terms while everything around me is going up.

But mustn't grumble :-)

I don't have to have them, but I do want them.

One keeps an eye on the car and the other looks skyward but captures people due to how its mounted.

Why not point it enough high so it not pick any peoples?
I would never put live a weathercam what could pick peoples/neighbours etc. due to privacy.
