Can I get the ObserverIP firmware to revert back to 1.0.9?
« on: March 11, 2015, 12:51:19 PM »
I upgraded the firmware to 2.1.0 and ever since I have had issues. The first one is that it seems to disconnect from WU on a daily basis, sometimes for only 20 minutes or so and sometimes over 2 hours such as it did last night. The other issue is it doesn't update to WU as often as it did which makes the rather dismal wind speed data even less accurate. Near as I can tell it updates every 20 seconds now whereas before it was around every 8 seconds. I would like to revert back to 1.0.9 because that one worked quite well but I can't get to that anymore on Ambient Weather's web site and didn't save a copy. Hopefully they will fix this soon but in the mean time, to anyone thinking of upgrading your ObserverIP firmware to the latest and greatest, remember these words of wisdom from some great philosopher who said: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

You can still download the 1.0.9 firmware here:
http://site.ambientweatherstore.com/iptools/wh2600_v1.0.9.bin

In fact, you can see all of the available firmware levels by browsing the directory on the IP Tools server:

Thanks!! Back on 1.0.9 and the rapid fire is aprox 12 seconds rather than 25. After the power up initialization everything links up with Observer much faster again. Will monitor to see if there is the lost connection issue with WU.

My observer came with 2.0 and it has been stable with around 14-16 sec updates. The station only updates at that rate so anything faster to WU is pointless. Interestingly, the observer itself has the web page refresh at 8 seconds.

I have accepted the limitations of the station and use wunderstation on my iPad instead of the WU site and the graphs are much nicer. For 150, not a bad station. I would probably get a Davis vue if getting it on WU wouldn't cost extra. But ambient is ok for the needs of a casual user like myself.

Check your relative pressure offset calibration settings. I had some negative numbers in there after the firmware update and downgrade.

Yes I had to adjust the relative pressure offset as well once I went back to 1.0.9 but now everything is working fine. It updates to WU every 12 seconds or so whereas before I was getting it to update closer to 30 seconds. We live in a very gusty place, sometimes rattles the building, but then it passes quickly. The weather station has trouble capturing those gusts unless it is updating at the right time and now with the earlier firmware it is twice as likely to catch and record the gust. Like you however I am satisfied with what I have, works good enough for now.

I heard it is a matter of time before the WunderStation app is available on Android so will be looking for that when it comes out.

Mine came with v1.01 I think I upgraded to v2 because it would get caught in a reboot loop if the net went down.
v2 would randomly drop the ID and revert from static IP to dynamic sometimes dropping the press adj.  Causing my cwop re posting script to drop connection to it. I complained about v2 and it looks like they fixed it.

I just found out v3 is out I downloaded that and its webpages are running much faster, am waiting to see if it stays stable.

Suggest you try v3 it now tells you the bat level inside and out.

Thanks! I'm traveling now and won't get back home for another week but when I do I will be giving v3 a try. Nice to know Ambient Weather cares enough to work to make it right. Really am happy with my 1400 purchase as it has been great keeping tabs on my station while being away.

I upgraded to 3.0 last week and have had several disconnects since (nice emails from weatherunderground).
I reset the unit after the flash to 3.0 the first time, and have needed to do a reset to gain access to the unit every time it drops offline.

I never had any issues so I regret upgrading... next time maybe I'll remember 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'

I'm moving back to 1.09 (what I last had on) as 3.0 is just too unstable for me...

I have not had any problems yet.
I did have major problems with 1.09 when the net went down it would get caught in a reboot loop. You had to unplug it.
As long as it had a internet connection it worked fine.

The net went down several times today and v3 did have any problems getting reconnected, but im still watching it. So far I have had none of the dropouts 2.02 had

Have been running with 1.0.9 now without any problems. I have heard about the possibility that I would need to be here to reset the black box if there was an outage so have been interested in again trying to upgrade, this time to V3. Today there was an area wide internet outage for several hours and when it came back on it took the black box time, but after about a half hour it reconnected to WU and has been good since. Since that was my only concern I think I will stick with 1.0.9 for a while, till I here of a compelling reason to upgrade the firmware.
