1400-IP and Meteobridge?
« on: January 04, 2015, 11:53:28 PM »
Hello All,

This is my first post on this forum. I am excited to be part of this community.

I got Ambient Weather 1400-IP all the way from US to India and installed it in Bangalore. The installation and configuration of the unit took less than an hour. The indoor sensor is not working and Ambient is providing me with a replacement. Overall, I am very happy with the setup.

Here is the link to my station - http://wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=IKARNATA20

As you all know, the weather station can submit the information only to weather Underground. I was wondering whether any of you were able to use meteobridge or any similar solution to report the live data to other websites such as COWP. The website of meteobridge does not list ObserverIP as an option - http://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php/Stations

I am aware of the airbridge product offered by Ambient. When I already have a wireless receiver (ObserverIP), I want to avoid using a meteostick. If I can feed the data received by the ObserverIP (a type of meteostick, I feel) into meteobridge (or ambient's weatherbridge), it will save us all money.

Wish you all a happy New Year.

Best,
Sharada

I have the WS-1400-IP and I think I'm okay with WU for now but would like to have it reach out to more weather data collection services too. However I am wondering if there was an easy software solution to have an attractive dashboard that can sit on my desktop PC and receive its data direct from ObserverIP's Live Data without using the internet and WU's interface. Is there such a solution? Seems like Ambient Weather's Virtual Weather Station software would fit the bill but none of Ambient Weather's stations are listed on their compatible weather station list. This strikes me as odd if that is the case that they are not compatible, beings that they are from the same manufacturer. The 1400 could really benefit from VWS software.

Feed a Metoebridge and then get the Meteobridge to feed the Saratoga weather templates to your desktop.

Thanks. Will doing this interfere with my ObserverIP receiver or the connection it provides to WU?

No.  But you could have Meteobridge feed WU, CWOP etc., too.

I have some plans on how to generate a local display but I don't have one yet. I want to make sure I have all the bugs worked out of the posting routines first.

Right now I have small program that can be used as a task with no console output to post the weather to other sites.

I have a demo version with dos output for testing. If you want to try its here http://goo.gl/nLakvj

It doesn't pull anything from the web it gets all its data from the Observer IP. The things the Observer IP doesn't provide are calculated. Its not intended to be used as a display at this time just for posting.
