The good old days. Loved the graphics back then, and TWC was free of all the Al Roker Productions (and others) Fat Guys In The Woods type shows.

And I think during the overnight, they just scrolled the forecasts & there were no on air mets.

I watched the 1991 video. Very nice, brings back memories when I actually watched TWC.

Wow, nice find. I started watching from the start, circa 1983 or so. Anybody remember Jill Brown? Girl next door appeal.

I believe that's where she went after TWC, but I'll bet I haven't seen her in 10 years or more.

"In January 2011, The Weather Channel laid off (Nicole) Mitchell. Mitchell filed a lawsuit against The Weather Channel in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia in 2011, alleging that she had been terminated because the new owners disapproved of the time required by her simultaneous duties as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as one of the "Hurricane Hunters" team.[1] Such reserve duties are protected by U.S. law. She also accused NBC bosses of making explicit complaints about her military service schedule, creating a "hostile working environment," and discriminating against her rights as a member of the armed services.[2]"

Remember the commercial they had where the guy comes into a bar and TWC is on the tv and everyone is watching it. He changes the channel and puts on the football game and everyone starts complaining and telling him to change it back. He just looks at everyone and thinks what a bunch of weirdos.
There was some other commentary on it but I can't remember what.
I still laugh when I think of that.
Tried to find a Youtube of it but can't. They did have other commercials from the bar called Front.

She was my favorite, and that was really the last domino that really got me to start not liking TWC anymore. She was pretty good and I really enjoyed her talking about the hurricane hunters on the air.

Ha, yes! That makes me think of the two guys in a bar, I think, one in blue tights (cold air), one red tights (warm air). They have some bet going about a cold front and it's location/timing (iirc). Then while watching TWC (as all bars do), Mr.  Blue Tights exclaims suddenly after TWC conformation on the TV, "There it is, right there, COLD AIR!!! Mr. Red Tights is dejected.

I remember those bar commercials.  I thought that this more recent one was worth a chuckle:

Even though TWC is no longer welcome here, this always elicits a chuckle!

Hi guys.  You clued me in that TWC was sold by NBC Universal two years ago.

Although I used to watch it from the beginning, (Remember Karen Minton?) i gave up on it after NBC turned it into "Joking with Roker" and they shamelessly fired Maj. Nicole Miller over her USAFR duties ( Good News.  She's on the air in Minneapolis and recently moved into an ANG slot that should lead to her becoming a Lt Colonel).

Anyhow, your post prompted me  to tune in the Weather Channel.  And although they still do long format shows in prime time and weekend afternoons, most of their other morning and weekday content reminds me of the good old days of the TWC.  A nice summary of the national weather in a half hour. Give it a shot.

Now, if they just would drop their silly Winter Storm names, i'll be happy.   But if I have to put up with that so they get enough advertising revenue to continue, I might accept it.  ;-)

If you are interested in the music they used to play, this site has the play lists going all the way back to 1968

I actually bought an album in 88 because of that music. It was an old blues number that Tinsley Ellis re did. It was called She wants to sell my monkey.
