So, I'm curious about folks' 1-Wire setups. I've done lots of searches here and on the Internet and found very, very little info about 1-Wire stuff. Well, let me amend that. I've found lots of info about the technical specs of 1-Wire and the protocols and such. I've found a few folks using the $100 AAG 1-Wire Weather station too. I'm more curious about folks that have setup 1-Wire stuff piece-meal/DIY. Apparently Dallas Semi used to have forums, but they're gone and only accessible to people who have logins from before they were taken down.
So, if you have one of the commercial 1-Wire WS (AAG or the other one, can't remember the brand) or if you're using a bunch of 1-Wire sensors/hardware with a PC as a weather station, tell me about your system. What's worked, what's not worked if you bought kit stuff like from hobby boards or if you bought chips and made your own or if you've sourced stuff from other vendors (Datanab seems to have a slew of temp senders).
I'm trying to educate myself as much as possible before I start buying gear, but most of the info seems to either be very low level stuff about the chips or theoretical stuff about what could be done with the hardware. I'm surprised there's not more practical info from folks that are using it. Info about what's worked and what didn't work, what software folks are using and what they're using it for.
Thanks
