Upgrade radiation shield for WS-2902
« on: May 20, 2018, 10:52:49 PM »
Noticing that my Osprey afternoon temps are spiking a few degrees in the afternoon; any ideas on how to put a radiation shield on it? the SRS100LX is incompatible, it seems.

It's a bummer that the shield isn't compatible with your shield, however I would say you have at least a couple of options. If you have some spare money on the side, I would say that buying or building a stevenson screen would be your best bet all together.

Building a stevenson screen discussion: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=32328.0

Buying a stevenson screen kit (here is just one option of several possible):  https://www.amazon.com/LABGO-Stevenson-Screen/dp/B016A120V4

If you are wanting to save money, you could check out a much less expensive way of building a radiation shield. This discussion came from someone using the same station that you have: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=32589.0

I hope this helps!  8-)

Took a small  4" x 6" wicker style plastic basket, painted it white, cut a hole in the bottom of it the same size as the temp sensor, slid it up to the top, turned it 45 degrees, then took a couple of thin sticks and wedged them between the basket and the rain sensor, keeping a gap between the basket and sensor so the rain drains out. The temp sensor stays shaded now; time will tell if it made any difference!

I'll try; going on a trip tomorrow, lots of stuff to do today to get ready! If not, then it'll be a couple of weeks!
