I'm looking for a source that would have historical data (from up to 100+ years ago).  I see Weather Underground only goes as far as 1945.  I'm ok with it being a pay service.  Any ideas?

I don't know if this is what you want, but try here:  https://data.nodc.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/iso?id=gov.noaa.ncdc:C00160

There may be a bit of a learning curve to use it.

Some of these go back 100+ years. Select state and zoom in on area and pick out station.

This goes back to 1773!  https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cdo-web/search  Out of curiosity, how will you use the weather data in genealogy?

Thanks all for the replies!  We were able to find what we needed.  Since I'm the family "weather nut" I was contacted by a family member that has been researching family history for many years now and compiling the data for us.  This was for a Social History class she was taking.  The assignment was to write a paragraph about the weather on an important date and place for an ancestor.  Since data was not available for everywhere she had to look a several ancestors until she found an event for one that there was weather data available on a data she wanted to highlight.  She was able match up an event with a date in the early 1900's in Youngstown, OH.  She was able to describe the"cold, crisp day" on the birth of an ancestor.

This is where I go in case you ever have more desire to look to the past: http://scacis.rcc-acis.org/

I use it all the time for research projects. It has airports, weather stations, even CoCoRaHS stations.

Hope this helps!
