Station photo on WU page-
« on: October 21, 2017, 12:41:35 PM »
Was this ever permitted? It doesn't look like it is doable at the present. It would be useful to be able to check other stations in one's area to see where and how they are mounted so as to determine whether their data is coming from a well positioned station. Stations in my area are erratic or else giving what appears to be very erroneous data, particularly night temps.

I have never been able to upload a photo. Just another WU wild goose chase

Used to be able to do this but as of a couple months ago we no longer can. They got rid of WU photos altogether sadly.

I still have the "My Photos" area which contains the photo of my weather station that shows up in the "About this PWS" link, but it looks like I don't have the ability to upload any more photos. Hmmmm? Must be a storage capacity issue for them. I have my weather camera pointed to include my weather station in the photo. That might be an option for you to try.

I wouldn't think small pics of people's pws' would take up much storage space at all. IBM can handle it.

Furthermore, photos should be made mandatory by WU so as to add a very important method of determining how a particular station is setup and if the data it is providing has any legitimacy.

I agree. I think a pic of the station would help determine if the data is accurate or not.  One of my stations is mounted in a "bowl" area. It really has an effect on the wind direction readings.

I used to check out others station photos all the time, for the reasons you all mention but also to get some ideas as to how to properly mount my station, so I am also disappointed that they got rid of the option of having a station photo. Here is the link to their description of their reason as to why they 'Said Goodbye to Wunderphotos'.
