Hi ken. Was wondering if it's possible to add browser/mobile detection like the wd forum? I just think it may be convenient for some users.
Thanks

Hi Mark,
I'm not sure what your suggesting -- the SMF template we use (which is the same, I think, as the WD forum) provides all the 'adaptation' we have. I'll check the add-on mods on the WD forum and see if there's a mobile-specific one. We both do offer Tapatalk for mobile users.

Sorry for the confusing. I added a screen shot.

Hi,
not sure if it is the best idea to show this. I dont really see use of it, just sort of tracking people, making it public and most importantly - these detections are often incorrect. Eg - when Im at home using my old laptop, it incorrectly detects my OS

I don't see a security with it.

I'm with Jáchym on this. It's a bit too much info to offer up with no method to 'opt out' (as far as I can see). The PII (Personally Identifiable Information) on the site is what you choose to put in your profile and signature area .. you get to choose how much or how little to display. With the browser mod, folks would see what OS and Browser (within the constraints/accuracy of such detection based on the contents of the User-Agent: request string).
So.. I think we'll leave it without the mod for now.

It is not a huge deal, but you would first have to say why you think it would be useful. Right now I dont see any point or advantage of seeing it (because as I said, what you would see now for example, would not show reality, it does not detect my Linux distro properly, not to mention Win98 :D)
