Whose WD has run longest without restart
« on: May 08, 2010, 06:24:36 PM »
Mine's just passed 10 days and almost 500,000 on the data count.

I know that's nothing special as it ran three weeks once before.
Usually a windows update means PC has to be rebooted, but other fiddling with it will sometimes cause surprise restarts.
I notice it doesn't like me to adjust the graph scale for some reason - and that will need doing soon when we finally get above 20C!

It's collecting from a Vantage Vue on USB logger.

Just the fact that the data logger hasn't locked up in 10 days is impressive enough...

The longest my weather computer has run (and therefore WD, VWS, VVP, WxSim, WxSimate, NexStorm, Wasp2, HomeSeer and its various plugins, Hamachi and VNC) is somewhere around 160 days. Then it crashed with a Serious System Error which has never returned.

XP Pro SP3, Core2 Quad, 2 GB RAM.

I went 25 days until 9:48 night before last #-o  Don't know what happened but I lost all updating to everything, but the datalogger was still doing it's thing and WD was still logging the data. restarted WD but had to end up restarting the computer to get my uploads back.

Don't know exactly what went wrong and haven't experienced that failure before...hopefully I won't again any time soon

20 days so far. I generally reboot my weather box every 30 days, so it's getting close.

I see a pesky windows update coming in today so after 14 days I suppose it's going to be asking to reboot.
Anyway it's seems very stable now on the Davis USB logger.

Actually my weather PC had the windows update but didn't ask to reboot presumably because little else is on it.
So it's near 16 days now.

Interesting it says about 750,000 data count
(compare "Going on 21 days.. little over 473000 on the data count")
I'm surprised there's so much difference, guess it depends on frequency of packet reception?
