WebcamXP help
« on: January 06, 2008, 01:03:41 PM »
Having some issues getting webcamxp to accept my modifications to font colors, size, etc. in my overlays. Can someone who has been able to make such changes do me a favor and paste the contents of one of their overlay xml files to this thread so I can do a stare and compare. The xml entries are a bit cryptic on the font settings. You can find them in the webcamxp/overlays folder.

Thanks!

Larry,
This may or may not help you but this XML file was pulled from WebcamXP from the Backwater Outfitters cam.

Code: [Select]
<webcamXP.Overlay>
 <Text X="8" Y="464" Alpha="0">{\a2}{\BORD1\SHAD0\4c&H00000000&\fsp0}{\fs7\c&HFF8000&}www.backwateroutfitters.com</Text>
 <Text X="500" Y="464" Alpha="0">{\a2}{\BORD1\SHAD0\4c&H00000000&\fsp0}{\fs7\c&HFF8000&}$time</Text>
 <Text X="570" Y="464" Alpha="0">{\a2}{\BORD1\SHAD0\4c&H00000000&\fsp0}{\fs7\c&HFF8000&}$date</Text>
</webcamXP.Overlay>

And there was much rejoicing!

Thanks Chris! For some reason my installs of webcampxp will not let me change the fonts at all using the overlay editor. Looks like it's going to change it but as soon as I apply the changes they revert back to the default 9 pt orange. I tried it on 3 different machines with the same result. For some reason it wouldn't write the "{\fs7\c&HFF8000&}" section to the file. I manually added it and it appears to have stuck! The break down is:

\fs7 = 7pt font
HFF8000 = #FF8000 (hex color)

I'd bet a big sum of money that another parm will show up after that last "&" if you change the font to something other than Arial.

Thanks again!

Schweet! :grin: Glad you got it working ok. I haven't run into that problem yet but that had to really be frustrating to apply changes and not see the changes applied. I'm wondering, did you highlight the text in the overlay editor and then apply the changes after switching color and font size? I think it took me a few trys to get it right the first time I started using the software.

BTW, I was out on the island today fishing off Pineland. Always love going out there. :grin:

Yep, that's what triggers it to revert back to the default.

It was just about a perfect day to fish. So I worked instead. :-(

Hmm, well that is surely strange if it's not accepting the changes. You may want to browse around the WebcamXP support forum to see if anybody has had problems related to what you just dealt with. If you can't find anything I think you can submit a bug report. I've posted a few questions and had a pretty good response from some of the users on their board which was very helpful.

It was a little chilly this morning. Got out there about 7am and dumped the boat in the water. Overall it was a great day for sight seeing but the fishing was really slow. I think the cold snap killed a ton of fish around pineland and the northern tip of the island. Read the article and check out the pics in the article from the SWFS forum. It just amazes me that the water temperature dropped 20 degrees in 24 hours. With that type of temp change I can kind of see why but I don't think it will hurt the population of snook or other species. They should recover ok. The one thing that caught my eye today were the amount of white pelicans I saw today on the flats. They were all over the place and I forgot how big they were! HUGE!
