I am looking for archived daily, weekly or monthly narrative national weather summaies.

WeatherHost:
NCDC has most of that, though it may be a bit cumbersome to filter through their options:


ncdc.noaa.gov


Also, try your local NWS Forecast Office and look for a link to 'Climate and Past Weather' or similar.
