beamd...Receiving hundreds of strikes during the day when sun is shining on the Atlas. At night and during the day when it is cloudy or overcast the strikes stop. A thunderstorm passed through the area last week during the late evening. The Atlas recorded over 60 strikes during the storm. When the storm moved away received no additional strikes. I also have AcuRite model 06045 lightning detector. It recorded approximately the same number of lightning strikes during the storm as the Atlas did. So, I am confident that the strikes recorded by the Atlas were actually storm related and not false strikes. However, for the first time I did receive a false strike just last night around 1am. Source unknown. Sky was mostly clear. No storms within 200 miles. Mystery continues.
