Missing Debris Screen

Hello all, I have a Vue and noticed the debris screen is missing. I know they can be purchased, but my question is...Because it's missing, does it affect the functionality and readings of the station?

The hole in the Vue is quite large compared to say a VP2 and if you get large droplet type rainfall then I have seen an increase in readings to what I put down to the droplets are big enough to either tip or bounce the spoon?
