Our local PBS station is showing "At the Edge of Space" at 8PM local time.
Both the DirecTV guide and the PBS description say that they cover "sprites".
At the Edge of Space
A high-flying weather observation plane skirts the earth-space boundary zone in a search for sprites, which are fleeting flashes that flicker upwards from thunderstorms for a split-second. Included: footage shot from the International Space Station.
Update: It was a really good program. They had some of the best sprite images I have seen. They have 3D views taken from two research planes, and high-speed photography showing stunning detail on the formation of the sprite.
