Title: Any adproid app writers out there?
Post by: 44085weather on April 03, 2017, 06:01:55 PM
I have an idea that i do not want to release to the world, is there anyone out there who is good at decompiling/ rewriting android apps? I do not know if what i am thinking is possible, but if you would like more information please PM me.

I could. I don't want to give too much away. I promise it is weather related and would be free to anyone.

Ok but if you plan on decompiling and modifying someone else's code,  then making it public might be an issue

I'm trying to decompile an app that connects to a weather station and allow you to configure it to connect to WU and other PWS sites, and write an app that will allow you to have the station upload to a site of your choice such as to weewx or a webserver. It's not really rewriting someone else's code, as much as it is trying to figure out how to connect to the PWS and make it more functional for myself and anyone else that has this particular PWS.

I see. WU should be pretty simple because it is basically just an HTTP request - more problematic is WU's unreliability. And especially when you try to use their API to get data (not send), it becomes a nightmare.

The PWS uploads automatically to wu.
I want to be able to connect to weewx or my own webserver. The PWS comes with an android app that you use to put in the ssid and password for your WiFi network as well as wu credentials. It's supposed to upload to weatherbug  but they seem to not be working. If I could modify the wbug settings to pinot to a web server or my weewx raspberry pi. I would be better able to send the data wherever I choose.
