Turned Off Weather Underground in dashboard
« on: January 14, 2019, 11:03:11 AM »
New guy here and new to weather stations. I have an Ambient 2902A. I did get it connected to WU. Then I wanted to stop sending data to WU and I went to the dashboard my devices  and turned it off. Now I can't turn it back on.
Thanks in advance for your help!

For the WS-2902A, I thought WU changes only could be made using the awnet smartphone app.

You are talking about turning this off right?

I recommend that you do not use the ambientweather.net to upload to WU. Instead configure the WU upload using the awnet app so that your station can directly upload to WU rather than having ambientweather.net do it.

The advantages of having your station console do the upload is that you gain WU Rapid Fire uploads of every 16 seconds. More "Live" view of WU when going to the WU dashboard. Otherwise if you upload to WU via ambientweather then you can only send data every 1 minute to WU and you lose the rapid fire benefits.

I really have no idea why Ambient included the ability for ambientweather.net to upload to WU....it is never better. I suppose it can save bandwidth for those that are on a metered connection. Then they just upload to ambientweather.net and they don't waste bandwidth on also uploading to WU. That is about the only reason I can think of for using ambientweather.net to populate WU.

Notice I'm not saying to not use ambientweather.net for its dashboard. I'm just saying don't use it to populate WU.

Thanks for the reply,
Yes, I turned that off and now can't turn it back on. The button disappeared. Unfortunately I have not been able to connect to my router using awnet (hours were spent previously with no success). It connects right away using ambientweather. Probably something I'm doing wrong

Good to hear and congrats on the new PWS!

In case somebody else runs into this situation, how did you get it fixed?

I changed my Xfinity cable modem/router (which I was unable to connect to using awnet.) I changed to a Netgear cable modem/router (connected on the first attempt with awnet).
