Nice scene to wake up to! That same system hit Southern Oklahoma also yesterday/night. The sleet stayed just west of us then early last night we got caught in a snow band that dropped 4" in 3 hours. Southern Oklahoma is never ready for snow. Drop a couple loads of sand around town and that's it so the roads are a mess! Road reports last night had multiple cars/trucks in the ditches on I-35.

Thanks for the kind words, folks!!!

Randall,  There might have been a little sleet mixed in with the snow at the end, but overall I received 1.31 in of rain before the changeover to sleet. Got 3" inches of sleet then the 4" in of snow. Most of the time we get freezing rain/sleet, sometimes all snow, but rarely.

Doug,  Be glad it was snow. It was a nightmare getting home from work yesterday afternoon. I don't think I have ever seen it sleet that hard or had sleet that large. Had it been any bigger, I could have reported it as pea sized hail.  Then last night we had thunder sleet. Good lightning display.

Joe,  Trying my best on Anita to get a camera. Can't complain though, she let me get my 25 ft. flagpole and wireless anemometer kit for it. I think she wants to get one. Take some more coaxing.

My father moved to Benton, AR from the Chicago area in the 80’s after retiring.  Being an architect, he was really amused when the Dairy Queen located in town collapsed flat to the ground from the weight of the snow on the roof after only a moderate snowfall.  It obviously wasn’t built with snow in mind.

That is a beautiful area.  We five kids would travel to Benton from around the country twice a year to spend time with him and go camping and fishing at De Gray Lake.  Lots of good times and fond memories.
