How often to 'service' vue
« on: September 13, 2010, 03:58:49 PM »
Just considering getting mine down from the pole before the autumn really gets going - has been up for 6 months now.
Previous expereince makes me think rain gauge will be well gungy by now..
On the other hand messing about with it is not without risk when all seems well.
What's the offical advice?
There will be plenty of tree debris shortly so perhaps it would be better to wait till the worst of that is done.

My Vantage Vue has been operating since Dec. 09 and only came down once in the early spring for a remounting.  In August we had some rain that did not register, turns out some little creature had spun a cocoon basically tying up the tipping cup.  I removed the cup assembly, cleaned it and all is good.  All this without removing the unit from the post.

Mine's been up for a year next month and still hasn't been down. I'm thinking about changing the battery then but I hate to do anything if it's still working ok!
