Dew Points off
« on: April 19, 2009, 07:32:47 AM »
The last couple days my dew point readings have been a little crazy http://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/C9336.  The room that my Davis Vantage 2 council sits in gets very warm at times (85 F yesterday) could this be affecting the calculations for the dew point?

If you look at your cwop page with the wind, temp, rain charts and radar, on the left hand side you can click on raw weather data and see what your station sends to cwop.  You do not send dewpoint data to cwop.  They calculate it from your temp and rh and who knows what else.  But it is calculated there.

Chances are that there's a new station that's sending bad data or an existing station that has a sensor that's went bad.  That will make your QA look off the mark when it's really not.

The dew point calculation being reported to CWOP is derived from raw data from your outside sensor, the ISS, and not from the temperature and humidity of your inside the console sensor.

If you have the Weatherlink software, you can look at the Plots screen and see that there are actually two dew points you can plot, an outdoor one and an indoor dew point.

People always talk about the weather, but they never do anything about it.  Not me.  I'm gonna measure it.  https://www.tceweather.com
