What's this box do?
« on: March 08, 2015, 08:53:30 PM »
It was finally warm enough to get out to my unheated shed and start to sort and plan for this summer's weather station work.

I found some stuff from an eBay auction I got last year, including some boards and humidity/temp sensor replacement stuff.

In there was this brand new looking box.  I have never seen anything like this before.

It is RainWise.  It looks like their receiver box.  The modular cord is hard wired internally rather than a jack/plug.  There is a two channel selection switch on it.  A small white nylon nut is over the area where a non-LR unit would have an antenna, and the place for a LR antenna doesn't have a hole drilled nor a short stub sticking out of it.

It does have a power socket in the usual place.

Any thoughts?

Richie?

thanks for any help. Dale

Does the nylon nut possibly cover an SMA connector for an antenna?

Maybe its a receiver for an old RainWise station, providing station data over serial?
Any part number, model number, or other stickers on it?

Edit:
Something similar to this: http://www.weatherbuffs.com/RainWise_CC3000R_41_Computer_Interface_Data_Logger_p/rw-cc3000r-41.htm
The nylon nut probably does cover an SMA type antenna connector.

I guess you can send the pic to Rainwise and ask, eh?  :)

Dale,

That is ancient... Very Very ancient. it is a receiver from a old 49Mhz system, the original wireless station. Very few left in the world. Not much use for it other than someone with a still functional 49Mhz system. Unfortunately it will not match with your current equipment.
