Lubricating a Rainwise Wind Sensor
« on: July 11, 2013, 07:10:48 PM »
I didn't find anything about this concern using search, so here goes the question:

How do you disassemble the black propeller and wind direction indicator for a Rainwise station?

I have a used, probably 5 year old Mark III station, and when a gentle wind is blowing, it points into the wind, but until the strength increases, it does not have it's propeller rotating. Right next to it an almost new station's propeller is spinning merrily.

Yet if you flip the propeller, it spins for quite some time, and is silent except for the little ticka-ticka that the magnet inside makes.

I know replacements are available, but run over $50 plus shipping.  I seem to have little to loose with a little try at taking it apart, giving it a good cleaning, and then lubing it up and reassembling.

But how?  Can anyone tell me how to do this, or if it is even worth the effort?

Thx.
Dale
