How do I listen to weather band on Worldstar multiband?

(1/1)

marrowhlp:
Just picked up an old Worldstar MG-6600 for weather purposes, and when I have the band set to between 162 and 163 MHz, where weather bands usually are, I hear nothing. AM/FM works just fine. I hope this is the correct forum to ask this type of question.

Bushman:
Does it actively scan the range from 162 to 163?  If not, you need the specific NOAA freqs for your area.  http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/marine/wxradio.htm

WeatherHost:
They're also very low power, so if you're not relatively close to one, you may not get anything.

miraculon:
There are coverage maps at http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/Maps/index.php You should be able to see the expected reception for your area. I recommend the maps by county (e.g Michigan, select your state).

Here is mine:
