AcuRite 01007M Lightning Detection Function
« on: October 07, 2018, 09:44:09 PM »
Having issues with my lighting detector and hoping/think it is equipment related. AcuRite 02020 works with no issue for me in same location while the one on my AcuRite 01007M give constant false strikes/interference during day but not at night.

You need to add another choice:
"The unit is registering false lightning strikes and have confirmed unit is also registering actual lightning strikes"

That is my situation.

Mine isn't registering false strikes but I haven't had any rain in months, much less any lightning to test it.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up to much room.

snowman435 I just added that option to the poll for you. how many false strikes are you getting on average, do the false strikes occur at a specific time of day? Mine are so frequent in the day it would be nearly impossible to tell if they are false strikes are not but at night I have no false strikes so I suppose I would be able to tell if it was registering legitimate strikes then.

No Problems for my unit. "REV0710, QC 4117" lightning detector using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries .

People without problem(s) are not going to be scouring bulletin boards looking for solutions like those who have problems.

beamd...Receiving hundreds of strikes during the day when sun is shining on the Atlas. At night and during the day  when it is cloudy or overcast the strikes stop. A thunderstorm passed through the area last week during the late evening. The Atlas recorded over 60 strikes during the storm. When the storm moved away received no additional strikes.  I also have AcuRite model 06045 lightning detector. It recorded approximately the same number of lightning strikes during the storm as the Atlas did. So, I am confident that the strikes recorded by the Atlas were actually storm related and not false strikes. However, for the first time I did receive a false strike just last night around 1am. Source unknown. Sky was mostly clear. No storms within 200 miles. Mystery continues.

Need to change mine to  the same as yours snowman435, storm just rolled through and seems to be registering strikes  accurate enough with the sun down and the box still on it. Did get a few interference warnings but if it could work this good with out the false alerts I would be happy.
