NWS and weather radio broadcast uploads to web
« on: February 26, 2008, 09:39:25 AM »
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/streamaudio.htm

In perusing the NWS site, I notice that they are now using the Weather Underground feeds for most of their links. I don't recall that being true in the past... And finally, they are using my WU feed instead of the dead link that had been there for quite a long time...  :-)

Yes, they have been trying to purge the dead links forawhile. I have had mine running to them for sometime now. You have to email them and tell them your info and stream id..... it takes a little bit for them to update the page, but they will..

I told our local office at least twice that their main stream link was bad, and that most likely was in 2006... I guess they finally got around to looking at it...

WooHoo.. I'm selected as the Monterey, California link (to my Wunderground audio feed).  The Monterey NOAA radio covers Monterey and Santa Clara counties (I'm in Santa Clara county).
Nice that they're offering links to functioning streams :)

I think I set a new record number of simultaneous listeners yesterday with a peak number of 31.

Must of been the possibility of 12-14" of snow that did the trick.

It is good to see that it is being used.

I didn't even think to see how many I had during all this snow and rain event we had last week here. I am sure it was off the charts. You are getting what we had and when it dumps 9" of snow just North of Dallas in March and we have two snow storms in a week over 12" in March you know people on the East Coast and upper Valley are in for a storm.

Where did you see these listens, was it from the WU page or is their another way to see.

They are indicated on this link. Can't recall if it's reset daily or monthly or??

Ah I forgot about that WU page. Now I am curious when this is reset because it says my peak listeners are 40. I wonder if that is for the day, at one time, month or what.

I think it resets whenever your streaming data feed reconnects to their servers for any reason.  (Internet connection dropped or computer reboot probably being the most common cause.)  Mine was showing uptime of 5 days but reset this morning for some reason.

Mine has been up 2 days since I rebooted. Do you know if that number is daily listens or peak listeners at one time, or just overall since the stream has been up?

With the weather we had Thursday I would believe 40 at one time. It shows I have 2 currently and 40 peak.

I'm pretty sure it is peak number of listeners at one time.

Man I have never seen this many people on before. It is a great honor when you host a clean feed that this many people use it. I was checking to see how many people were listening since we had some serve weather going through. I wasn't expecting this many though.
