Title: comparing cocorah gauge to nws gauge
Post by: jerryg on February 03, 2012, 10:32:30 PM
I always wondered how the 4 inch gauge used by cocorahs and the 8 inch used by the nws compared and i found an article that did a ten year comparison between the two and thought some of you might like to read it. Here is the link to the comparison  http://www.cocorahs.org/Media/docs/SMOI%202.2%20Ten-Year%20Gauge%20Comparison.pdf

Excellent article by Nolan. He's a good fellow! The value of the 4" gauge puts it within reach of nearly every person who desires to measure precipitation. I've been measuring with CoCoRaHS for several years and found the 4" gauge to be an excellent device.

I would encourage anyone with an interest in weather to get the 4" gauge and report to CoCoRaHS.
