1002 Failed after warranty ran out
« on: March 19, 2018, 09:42:53 AM »
Bought my mom the Ambient Weather WS-1002-WIFI OBSERVER for Christmas 2016. It has now apparently died. Thought maybe the batteries had gone south so I crawled up on the roof and replaced them. That wasn't it.
It worked fine until it quit working.
Now it just flickers about every 15 (or so) seconds.

Anyone have any fix suggestions? (besides buy a new one)

Probably won't buy another Ambient.

Greg, the original batteries are expected to last 12-18 months. When mine failed, I had the same issue. This is what I discovered. Remove the batteries, then cover the solar cell with a piece of black paper, wait about a minute, put the batteries in then uncover the solar cell.

That is normal, transmitting data to the console every 16s.
There is a little hole next to the led where you can also force a reset with a paper clip.

I replaced mine with Duracell NIMH and been running on that for almost 12months now.

Wow, that's great, she'll be happy.
Soon as I can get to the store and get some new batteries.
Thanks

Didn't work
Found another reset hole on the sending unit and tried it.
Finally took the outdoor unit down and put both units on the table in the kitchen. Reset them both.
The sending unit LED flashes regularly. The screen flashes regularly. It still does not work.

$300 out the window.
