Aw snap! The new Google Earth isn't supported by your browser yet. Try this link in Chrome instead.

^^  It's not a browser thing.

Download and install it.

Google has recently (spring) updated GE and it now runs fully from a browser, but some features are so far only supported by Chrome

With the way they've destroyed their News pages and are being completely unresponsive to the thousands of complaints, I'm not too interested in supporting any of their products or services.  I switched to DuckDuckGo for a search engine a while back and am digging up alternatives for as many other services as I can.

They discontinued it because it was no longer being used by most. You have to remember that even "thousands" of complaints is likely to be irrelevant percentage and Google is not a charity... And also by far not the only company that simply discontinues products which are no longer being used to an extent they would make money - I think all companies do this unless they are government companies

... which of course doesnt mean you should be using Google. I personally am a big fan of Google and use everything from them, but I recently read an interesting article about this and it basically said that for everything google does, there is an alternative - Gmail, maps (OK google earth is unique, but maps as such not), search engine, calendar, Gdrive... in some cases they are even much more used, eg. Facebook vs. Google+

There is only one exception - one service in which Google has absolutely no competitor and everyone uses it - YouTube...

Just watched a bear trying to fish (poorly), some of the fish were mocking him, i was more interested
in the hundreds of fish shooting from right  to left going up stream, those salmon have a lot of power :o
Kind regards
Bashy

The Chrome version seems to be lacking a hell of a lot of feature; that or I'm not finding them.

All the Draw/Measure tools?

Elevation profiles for paths?

They just don't seem to exist.

Phil.

Really very interesting.
Desire for new additional sites that implement this feature.
