Now that it's been running smoothly for a couple of months, I thought I'd share pictures of my Christmas present: an Ambient Weather WS-2902A PWS, located in Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA. Due to my HOA's height restrictions, I opted to ground-mount the Osprey outdoor array 6 feet above the desert floor outside my house, atop a painted chain-link-fence terminal-post. And to allow easy movement between various test locations, the post is simply clamped into a patio-umbrella stand, ballasted by nearly 150 pounds of paving stones. Because this arrangement has proved to be stable through 50+ mph wind gusts, I may just use this mounting method permanently.
The radio link between the outdoor array and the indoor display console, separated by about 75 feet, is consistently strong, as is the wifi link to my router located 30 feet beyond the console. My preferred location for the display was on a wall above 3 light switches, so I decided to ditch the 5V outlet adapter and instead run a power cable in-wall, from the display to a replacement light switch that includes integrated USB power ports.
