Yes Dreamweaver!  I wanted the site to have all the same info like everyone else, but I wanted it to look completely different. :grin:

I have Wayne's GR3 player on one page and the older player on another for now.  If Wayne's player were able to show a not available message, or play images even if less then 10 are available, I would completely drop the older player.  In fact I think the older player won't play older image files either.  I'm sure this is all stuff he is already working on!  Just the script as is had to be an incredible endever.  It is a great addition to my site! =D>

Thanks for the compliment on the site!

Thanks Danny!!!

The code for the menu bar works perfectly!!!

http://www.peotoneweather.com/gr3/br248.php

I've noticed when there are no images or less then ten 10 images for a radar type, the player does not load.  It will sit empty, almost like its waiting to load!

Can the player be made to play images even if there is less then 10 available?  And is there a way to put a message on the player when this occurs?  Something like this GRLevel3 option is not available at this time.

Thanks Again Danny!
Your hard work is appreciated by all!

You are very welcome! Hard coded into the applet are 10 image file names the applet it is told to run with. So unless the applet finds those 10 images specified it will break. You can run it with any number of images but the number of images must match what's in the applet code.

Thank you for the reply!  I guess that makes sense!

Thanks again for the script, it runs smoother and faster then the old gr3 animation script! Not to mention it looks alot better. =D>

I can second that motion!!  Thanks Danny!!

I think I have finally gotten all the products I normally provide up and running and on the main menu under gr3 radar.

Greatly appreciate all the hard work you put in getting this project to work and I think I can speak for all involved in saying we are grateful
for the assistance!

Wayne

I'm very happy to help Wayne. The weather community has always been very generous. Myself and many others have benefited greatly from it over the past many years. There is a lot of hidden talent here!

I had decided a few weeks ago that it was time that I gave back a little bit to the community (Pay it Forward). That is why you have been seeing me here more recently, but I have lurked here since 2006. There is much more I can contribute but I think it is best not to bombard the community all at once and spread it out a little in here.  :shock:

Danny, can this script be made XHTML compliant? I'm getting errors with the flash code.

The validation error is caused by the embed code section of the applet. I remember reading about a year ago on validating "embed" code and things people have tried and failed. Maybe progress has been made since then. I'll see what I can find.

Danny, can this script be made XHTML compliant? I'm getting errors with the flash code.

I have found the solution to validate your applet code with XHTML 1.0 Strict by removing the embed tags and tweaking the applet code. I tested it in Firefox and IE8.

New Applet Code:
Code: [Select]
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="flanis/flanis.swf" width="600" height="610">

    <param name="movie" value="flanis/flanis.swf" />

    <param name="quality" value="high" />

    <param name="menu" value="false" />

    <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />

    <param name="FlashVars" value="configFilename=grlevel3.cfg" />

</object>

Replace your existing code with the sample code above. Just make sure your paths correct. The "embed" tags along with the "classid" & "codebase" parameters have been completely removed from the applet. It has basically been replaced with the "type" and "data" parameters, and as you can see the applet code has shrunken significantly.

The "embed" tag was implemented by Netscape many years ago so flash movies could play in their browsers. Today Netscapes embed tag is considered a hack...

Yes, and this change should be good for any applet still using the "embed" tags.

I used to see you on the HAMweather boards a lot, even going back a few years. Are you still using HAM? I didn't see it on your site.

Thanks, Danny. Yes, I'm still using Hamweather on my site. The temp/precip outlook and the qpf maps are HW as well as the active tropical systems page. I did purchase the world buoys plug-in some time ago, and may still use that on my site, as well as some of the weather forecasts possibly ;) Unfortunately, support for HamWeather has dwindled as of late, so there aren't many of us on the boards anymore.

Your welcome.

I run "all of the above" with Ham including Tides, Rivers and Buoys. I would be more than happy to share any of my templates or configs if you think it would help.

Hey guys. Trying to get this going but path issues somewhere.  :-|
Seems paths are a recurring thing for me lol

Page: http://www.cnyweather.com/wxnewradar.php

Above page applet code:
Code: [Select]
<div id="main-copy">

<h1>Sample Blank Page</h1>
 <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"

codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0" width="600" height="610" id="FlAniS">

    <param name="movie" value="flanis/flanis.swf" />

    <param name="quality" value="high" />

    <param name="menu" value="false" />

    <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />

    <param name="FlashVars" value="configFilename=./GR3/grlevel3.txt" />

    <embed style="width:600px; height:610px;" src="flanis/flanis.swf" name="FlAniS" swliveconnect="false"

    quality="high" menu="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"

    pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" scale="noscale" flashvars="configFilename=./GR3/grlevel3.txt" wmode="opaque"> </embed>

</object>

    <p>This is a sample page</p>

Path to grlevel3.txt is http://www.cnyweather.com/GR3/grlevel3.txt

Applet loads but no images are shown.

Thanks!

Tony, not sure if this will help. I don't have GR3 but used the code below to animate my satellite images:
Code: [Select]
<div id="main-copy">
 <h2>6 Hour NOAA Satellite Loop</h2>
  <div align="center">
   <table>
    <tr>
     <td>
       <p align="left">The images are captured approximately 15 minutes apart. The animation consists of 25 images over a span of 6 hours. Hover your mouse over the controls to display control functions.</p>
     </td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
     <td>

<br/>

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="./mp/flanis.swf" width="650" height="700">
      <param name="movie" value="./mp/flanis.swf" />
      <param name="quality" value="high" />
      <param name="menu" value="false"/>
      <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
      <param name="FlashVars" value="configFilename=wxsatellite2.cfg" />
</object>
     </td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
     <td>
    <p align="center">The above images from <a href="http://aviationweather.gov/adds/satellite/" title="Aviation Digital Data Service" target="_blank">NOAA's National Weather Service - Aviation Digital Data Service</a> .</p>
     </td>
    </tr>
   </table>
  </div>
</div><!-- end main-copy -->

My flanis.swf sits in my mediaplayer sub folder /mp/ rather than /flanis/ and the <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" line was the old way of calling it up back in the day. ;) Now <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" is the proper way, IE8 has no problems with that, haven't tried my old IE6.........  :!: just did and even IE6 understands that line without using the old "clsid" call. \:D/ =D&gt;

My cfg file sits in the root and has the following:
Code: [Select]
backcolor=#291F4B
forecolor=#FFFFFF
controls=startstop, looprock, step, speed, firstlast, zoom, refresh, toggle
controls_tooltip=Start-Stop, Rock Frames Back-Forth, Step Image One at a Time, Set Frame Speed, Go to First or Last Image, Zoom In By Clicking Mouse on Image, Refresh Images, Click to Remove Frame From Animation
pause_percent=200
image_window_size=630,630
rocking=false
active_zoom=true
keep_zoom=true
no_enh=true
image_base=./satellite/images/store/
enhance_filename=./satellite/images/store/enh.tab
filenames=satimage24.jpg, satimage23.jpg, satimage22.jpg, satimage21.jpg, satimage20.jpg, satimage19.jpg, satimage18.jpg, satimage17.jpg, satimage16.jpg, satimage15.jpg, satimage14.jpg, satimage13.jpg, satimage12.jpg, satimage11.jpg, satimage10.jpg, satimage9.jpg, satimage8.jpg, satimage7.jpg, satimage6.jpg, satimage5.jpg, satimage4.jpg, satimage3.jpg, satimage2.jpg, satimage1.jpg, satimage0.jpg
debug=false

My images are off of the root in /satellite/images/store/ if that helps any :roll: ;)

Hi Tony,

Try using the full path to your style sheets in between your "head" tags..

Code: [Select]
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.cnyweather.com/weather-screen-silver-narrow.css" media="screen" title="screen" />
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.cnyweather.com/weather-print-php.css" media="print" />

It's loading and animating. There's nothing on the radar currently.

Tried adding the links to the style sheet but no go so far. Not really sure why it's
not picking it up to begin with from my Settings.php file where it should get the style info from.

Tony,

I think if you moved your wxnewradar.php to the main directory everything should fall into place
(http://www.cnyweather.com/wxnewradar.php)

Just change the links in the applet to point to your radar images in http://www.cnyweather.com/GR3/....
