I had been a user of IXwebhosting for 6 years and switched over to Bluehost in the last few weeks.
Everything has gone very well, but I am having an issue setting up my FTP in Filezilla. I never had an issue with IXwebhosting.
I know that the setup for FTP is ftp://username:password@server.com/directory.
My domain is centralwvweather.com
My username is fitzwater@centralwvweather.com
My hosting is ftp.centralwvweather.com
My password is xxxxxx
I have GR uploading to a folder in the main directory called "GR3"
So I have the setup as ftp://fitzwater@centralwvweather.com:xxxxx@ftp.centralwvweather.com/GR3
Could someone lead me to what I am doing wrong?
-
You'd likely have to use
ftp://fitzwater@centralwvweather.com:xxxxx@ftp.centralwvweather.com/www/GR3
for the upload. It appears the FTP address is the 'home' directory and the website is in the www directory under the 'home' directory.
FTP and HTTP generally use different starting directories (in my experience).

Thank you Ken. I will test this as soon as I get home from work and let you know.
The previous error I had was "12005".
-
Unfortunately, that did not fix it, as I keep getting the InternetCrackURL failure "12005".
P.S. I usually have Use Passive FTP checked, I just tried unchecking it to see if a different dialogue box popped up.
-
The error 12005 is ERROR_INTERNET_INVALID_URL (The URL is invalid.)
One too many '@' try:
ftp://fitzwater:xxxxx@ftp.centralwvweather.com/www/GR3
-
I work 9a-12a EST today but as soon as I am off, I will try that and let you know.
Thank you again for the help Ken, I really appreciate it.

Still having an issue - that helped the original error that I received but now it tells me that I have a multitude of issues.
I have carefully ensured that my username, hosting, and password are all correct, yet I now receive these remarks inside of GR. I am using GR 3 2.60 [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Hi Joseph,
In your user/password, try removing the ftp after the @ sign and see if that resolves it. If that does not work, try using the IP of your server in place of the ftp.fitzweather.com after the @ sign. This can drive one crazy trying to find the correct combination.

FTP error 12014 is ERROR_INTERNET_INCORRECT_PASSWORD
The request to connect and log on to an FTP server could not be completed because the supplied password is incorrect.
Make sure your FTP password doesn't have special characters like @ ' " or : in it.
-
Thank you both for the continued help in trying to diagnose what I am not implementing correctly. My password is all lowercase with 3 numbers only (no special case characters used). I tried putting my ip server in and received internet error code 12029.
-
So did you or anybody else ever get the connection fixed? I'm trying this for the first time and having the same exact problem. Yeah, it indicates wrong password. But have confirmed it's the right password. My password has special characters in it, but have not tried changing it yet.
-
Make sure your password doesn't have the "@" symbol in it.

Make sure your password doesn't have the "@" symbol in it.
It doesn't but what if it starts with "%"?
-
Not sure if "%" is a problem. I ended up starting and ending my PW with letters and have one special character "_" in the middle that works.
-
In place of the % try %25.
